Our idea and need to organize the World Gallery of Drawing saw the light of day with the arrival of the artwork of artists from all aroundthe world. The World Gallery of Drawing - Skopje 2009 poses an encouragement that this need is actually shared. As hosts of the event, our vision is to encourage and motivate artists through their artwork not only to compete, but to sparkle the creative, spontaneous, tactile and natural straight forwardness; to grow alongside the benefits and temptations of human kind in the digital era. We are grateful for the major turnout of artists and delighted to witness the drawing craftsmanship of artists who we acknowledge as our spiritual community. Our intentions are to mature along the experiences and ideas we acquire from the artwork as well. The artist relates, communicates and interacts with every surrounding, however his/her personality should enjoy primary reverence so as to be able to understand the subtlest of nuances of creation.
Therefore, as hosts, we did not structure the awarding system according to hierarchy. In addition to Grand Prix for Life Achievement, there is the proposal of establishing a Grand Prix for Annual Artistic Achievement where as the World Cultural Heritage Award is our paying tribute to the artworks of artist whose ideas and creation are relevant to the world history of art.
